Digital People Manchester open for business!

With the Governments creation of the Northern Powerhouse proposal aimed at boosting economic growth in Liverpool, Leeds, Newcastle, Sheffield and Manchester, it’s a hugely exciting time for the North. And with £13 billion earmarked for improving transport links in the region by 2020, and investment in science and innovation underway, there are also plans to give local councils and industry greater powers when it comes to determining local economic priorities, such as job creation and economic growth.

With strong roots in manufacturing, science and technology it’s thought that when the great cities of the North combine, the region could quickly begin to rival that of London and the South East. In fact, ONS data from 2016 is showing that a shift may already be taking place. While it’s likely London will always have the highest GVA per head (which rose to £43,629 in 2015), the North West was the fastest growing region in 2015 and grew by 3.6%. Combined, the North West, North East and Yorkshire and the Humber had a GVA per head of £61,145!

Having spent almost 20 years in the digital industry ourselves, working for SMEs and mature blue chips through to bootstrap start-ups, we’re hugely excited about the future for the North. Manchester, in particular, has a greater concentration of e-Commerce start-ups than anywhere else in the UK, and for this reason we’ve decided to invest there.

With a footprint in Manchester, Digital People is looking forward to building long-lasting relationships with, and serving more customers in the North, and helping them to secure the best digital talent the region has to offer.

We’re also extremely proud to sponsor the inaugural eCommerce Show North. Taking place this October, the show aims to be the biggest gathering of eCommerce companies, vendors and suppliers held outside London, and will welcome up to 5,000 attendees to Manchester’s Event City exhibition centre. We can’t wait!
