2016’s top recruitment challenge: Improving quality of hire

In Deloitte’s Global Human Capital Trends 2015 study, which looked at the most important recruitment issues facing global businesses today, 87% of business leaders cited “retention, engagement, and culture” as their top priority.

According to LinkedIn’s Global Recruiting Trends 2016 report, the top focus for small and medium sized businesses (SMBs) in 2016 is improving the quality of hire and adequately tracking performance.

One of the most important statistics in recruitment, many hiring managers struggle to find the right metrics for measuring engagement and retention, often lacking confidence in how they evaluate quality of hire.

In LinkedIn’s fifth annual report, 39% of SMBs agreed that quality of hire is the most valuable metric for overall business success, with 50% measuring quality of hire through feedback methodologies, such as new hire evaluations, and 49% measuring with long-term methodologies, such as turnover or retention statistics.

Whether gauging success using the methods mentioned above or through hiring manager satisfaction, a method which 43% of SMBs also use, it’s clear that businesses need assistance sourcing key talent that will have a lasting effect on the company.
